Joe Kendrick spoke with Trout Steak Revival at the IBMA gathering in Raleigh last month, and we recorded their interview and a few songs. Fiddler Bevin Foley  is a native of Colorado. Mandolinist/guitarist Steve Foltz and bassist Casey Houlihan both hail from Wisconsin. Dobro/guitar player Will Koster emigrated to Colorado after spending his youth near the forests and streams of Michigan. Banjo player Travis McNamara, the youngest member of Trout Steak, is from upstate New York.

The Slocan Ramblers hail from Toronto, Canada. Their debut album Queen City Jubilee  was a 2019 Juno Award Nominee for Traditional Roots Album of the Year. WNCW's Joe Kendrick caught up with them during a busy week of bluegrass and more at last month's IBMA festival in Raleigh. WNCW will broadcast live from The Pour House Music Hall in Raleigh, NC for one of this year's Bluegrass Ramble showcases at the International Bluegrass Music Association's World of Bluegrass Festival. Among the acts scheduled: The Barefoot Movement, Darin & Brooke Aldridge, and the Po' Ramblin' Boys, who are expected to be joined by a number of familiar guests! Expect many of these acts to announce that they'll be at the Inaugural Earl Scruggs Music Festival coming to the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, NC over Labor Day Weekend 2020!

IBMA Momentum Award winners and Instrumental Performance and Emerging Artist nominees Mile Twelve will be releasing their new full-length album, City on a Hill, on March 29th.

Joe Greene says there will be "Plenty of Christmas grass" on the show Saturday, December 22nd beginning at 11am. He'll welcome The Trailblazers, 2018 International Bluegrass Music Association "Momentum Band of the Year," to the air studio in the noon hour. In the Two O'clock hour, he'll share the Earls Of Leicester Christmas Special: A Very Merry Shawn and Jerry Christmas. Get on board the WNCW Bluegrass Holiday Express Train, Saturday from 11am to 7pm with Hosts Joe Greene and Todd Baldwin.

  The 2018 International Bluegrass Music Award Ceremony was held last week in Raleigh, North Carolina at The Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts. The event was hosted by one of WNCW's favorite bands, HOT RIZE. Many of the IBMA musicians are long time friends of our grassroots, listener-powered radio station and we want to take time and congratulate the winners - Job well done!

 

She's sold more than 12 million records, won 27 Grammys, nine Country Music Association Awards, 14 International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards AND two Gospel Music Association Awards.
