Dirty Dozen Brass Band

Two bands posing in studio at WNCW
Vicki Dameron

"When he was 14 years old, Kev Russell found his father's guitar under his bed, along with a sewing machine and a billy club. Lucky for us it was the guitar that captured his attention, because here at WNCW we totally dug the records he made with the Gourds, and his latest band Shinyribs has become a favorite as well. Shinyribs recently played live in Studio B, and we'll listen to that session. We'll also hear music from Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Aaron Neville lead guitarist Jamie McLean, who has been busy touring and recording with a band of his own." ~ Kim Clark

Live Friday, May 17th between 1 & 2pm: Jamie McLean

May 10, 2019

When not working with Aaron Neville, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and others as their lead guitarist, Jamie McLean is busy churning out his own songs and recordings of New Orleans soul, Delta blues, middle America roots and New York City swagger. He plays Knoxville on Thursday, Asheville on Friday, and Charlotte on Saturday!
