david childers

We were pleased to learn the news recently that David Childers has a new project! His band the Serpents has a bit of a different sound than his Modern Don Juans, and they've just released an album that was recorded old-school, analog-style titled "Interstate Lullaby" which will be featured during "New Tunes at 2" this Tuesday. They'll debut some new songs live in Studio B. Upcoming shows include the WinterSkunk Music Fest at the Spinning Jenny in Greer on Saturday the 8th, followed by appearances in Boone, Charlotte, NC and more.

We're giving tickets away again and we love doing it for our spectacular listeners! Shoot us an email at pledge@wncw.org and put WinterSkunk in the subject line. Contest ends Monday, February 3,  at Noon. Tell your friends!

The Avett Brothers will perform at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina on All Hallows Eve - October 31st. The folk rock band released its 10th album, Closer Than Together, this month and it’s already topping charts and selling like crazy. They have a huge fan base here in North Carolina, their home state, and they have an equally large and devoted following worldwide. WNCW music hosts have been spinning tunes by the Avett Brothers for many years, and we’re playing songs from Closer Than Together on the daily.

Former NASCAR driver, and now broadcaster Kyle Petty joined WNCW's Friday Feature as he was preparing for a concert with Musician David Childers.  Kyle talks about his love for music, singing and songwriting, but the heart of this interview was his long-time charity work that includes Victory Junction, a camp for children with disabilities.  No one is turned away. We hope you'll have a listen to this feature from January 11, 2019.

DAVID CHILDERS
Kevin Bridges

Our favorite Mt. Holly lawyer-turned-musician has a new release that is seriously one of his best -- and we've been following him since at least 1999. On Run Skeleton Run he has a lot of help from Bob Crawford and Scott Avett of The Avett Brothers, and producer Don Dixon, in addition to his fellow regular bandmates. History and literature feature prominently through his great songs, and he'll perform live in Studio B in advance of shows in Charlotte on May 28th and June 8th, among others.
