Charley Crockett loves to ride horses almost as much as he loves to play music. 2020 was going to be the year that I got to see him play his music live not once, but twice — first at MerleFest in spring, and next at Cold Mountain Music Festival in summer. Of course, the pandemic struck both of those appearances for Charley, and made every venue and festival reschedule or cancel the year’s events. The silver lining is that, most likely, I got to speak with him for far longer than I would have in person at either of those festivals when I called him while he was staying in Taos, New Mexico.

One thing WNCW knows about is bluegrass, old time and true country music. It's a part of our electic music format which made this Friday Feature Interview of the Week even more special - when we learned all about the East Tennessee State University Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies Program.  Interviewed on March 20, 2020 was Program Director Daniel Boner.  ETSU is passing on a legacy of music history that will help keep it going strong for the future.

We love his new "Broken Down & Honky Tonk Bound" collection, and he's got a string of shows in Asheville & Charlotte this month. Put on your dancin' shoes...

We had a great time taking these images in Studio B while hanging with the band Yellow Feather. The group calls Old Fort, North Carolina home. It's a small town located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just eat of Asheville, NC. We were fortunate to share this LIVE Studio B Session with our listeners earlier this year. And, we've also been able to feature one of the Country/Americana band's songs, "Lucille" on our new Crowd Around The Mic CD Volume 22.
