Monday Night the 12th at 8pm: BOB DYLAN - The Times They Are A-Changin'

Many of us Dylan fans are still digesting the extensive material of his Bootleg Series Vol. 11 collection of The Basement Tapes Complete that was released last November (#9 in WNCW's Top 100), and a new studio album will be released on February 3rd (Shadows in the Night, Sinatra covers.) But why not revisit this classic album on Monday night, released January 13th, 1964. It may be somewhat overshadowed by the groundbreaking Freewheelin' Bob Dylan that preceded it, and is rivaled by Another Side of Bob Dylan that followed seven months later, but this one is not to be overlooked. 51 years later, notice how strikingly relevant songs such as "The Ballad of Hollis Brown", "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll", "With God On Our Side", and "Only a Pawn in Their Game" are to today's headlines. One might lament the subsequent irony in the clarion call proclaimed in the prophetic title track....Or perhaps time is just more cyclical than linear. Regardless, this is an album and an artist that is worthy of featuring on your public radio station. Other classics here: "One Too Many Mornings", and the often covered "Boots of Spanish Leather".
