This October 6 & 7, The Marcus King Band and their family & friends will descend on Pisgah Brewing in Black Mountain, NC for the inaugural The Marcus King Band Family Reunion, a 2-day music festival featuring a lineup curated by King himself. The festival will feature performances by Blackberry Smoke, David Shaw (Solo Acoustic), Muddy Magnolias, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, George Porter Jr, BIG Something, Travers Brothership, Ron Holloway Band, Leah Blevins, Gabriel Kelley, That's What's Up and more.
Pre-sale tickets for The Marcus King Band Family Reunion will be available Wednesday, August 24 at MarcusKingBand.com, followed by the public on-sale Friday, August 25. 2-day tickets start at $49.50.
Given their almost non-stop tour schedule, The Marcus King Band tends to miss out on the family reunions they cherished growing up. "I remember these gatherings were always the happiest time for me as a kid. A stress-free environment where you are free to love the people you're around," explains King. "That's the aesthetic we want to bring to our festival. Community and happiness. There are no separate agendas being forced on anyone. Just an all-around good time."
The Marcus King Band will perform a full set on Friday, October 6, and will host a special Marcus King Band Family set on Saturday, October 7, with guest appearances by David Shaw, Ron Holloway, Brandon "Taz" Niederauer, George Porter Jr. and more. The full festival lineup and set times will be announced later this summer.
A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold will benefit two local non-profits near and dear to The Marcus King Band: Cannabis Forward, a Greenville-based organization that raises awareness of the medical benefits of marijuana, and Mental Health America of Greenville County, an organization that positively impacts mental health through advocacy, awareness and service.
Late last year, The Marcus King Band released their sophomore, self-titled album that was produced by Warren Haynes and released on Fantasy Records. This year, the band made their network television debut on CBS This Morning Saturday where they performed "Rita Is Gone" and "Ain't Nothing Wrong With That." Marcus King is currently on the cover of Guitar Player Magazine as one of "10 Young Players Spreading The Gospel of Kick-Ass Guitar."
The Washington Post said, "King is poised to be one of music’s next great guitarists-a virtuosic talent capable of playing blues, rock, country, R&B, soul and more," and The Philadelphia Inquirer said “Marcus King is about to become a Southern rock guitar superstar.”
