Isis Restaurant & Music Hall in Asheville has two acts performing Wednesday evening that we've played, and we've got both in Studio B that afternoon. Montreal-born Kaia Kater, accompanied by her banjos and guitar, sings songs that explore themes of migration and belonging on her album Grenades, which has been nominated for a 2019 JUNO Award for Contemporary Roots Album. David Jacobs-Strain has been singing and playing some powerful slide guitar before impressed crowds since he was a boy in 1990's Eugene, Oregon, and has been collaborating with blues harpist Bob Beach since 2010.
