Homeward Bound of WNC Needs Donations For Shelter at Harrah's Cherokee Center Downtown Asheville, NC

Homeward Bound of WNC and Harrah's Cherokee Center Asheville

Homeward Bound of WNC ends homelessness by moving people into permanent housing, and providing the support they need. The organization's staff say 89% of the people moved into housing are still housed. It receives public and private funding to do the work.

Right now Homeward Bound is the head agency working toward sheltering and getting emergency relief and assistance to the area's vulnerable population, who have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The Harrah's Cherokee Center temporary shelter is not an open shelter... again, it's for the most vulnerable citizens, and they need our help. To get more info or donate - look for the link below

Items critically needed at this time include: Camping gear, toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, disinfectant cleaning supplies including wipes, regular baby wipes, disposable gloves, towels, soap, underwear, socks, and unopened (without the seal broken) over-the-counter medications such as pain relievers and cold medicine.

The following items are needed for our emergency shelter at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in downtown Asheville. Donations can be dropped off on-site or at the Welcome Home Donation Center, details below. 

  • bottled water
  • single serving packaged snacks,  breakfast items, and Gatorade, sodas (especially coke), tea, juice
  • washcloths and towels
  • Lysol spray and wipes
  • laundry soap
  • socks & underwear
  • toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, feminine products, shaving cream etc)
  • games, puzzles, and books
