Friday Feature- A Regional Author Helps Get Grammy Nomination, while sharing Music and Black History

A few years ago, WNCW presented an interview with Author Dave Gilbert of Mars Hill University, when he released his book 'Ragtime, Race and The Birth of the Manhatten Marketplace.'  The book shared the history of African-Americans who signficantly affected music in the late 1800's and early 1900's, including what's known as Ragtime.  Later, an opportunity presented itself for Gilbert to provide liner notes to a music CD called 'The Product of Our Souls: The Sound and Sway of James Reese Europe's Society Orchestra.' That CD received a Grammy nomination. Now we present this new interview with Gilbert in celebration of Black History Month and the Grammy's.                                                                                                                                          First presented on-air February 15, 2019.
