For a number of years, the City of Shelby has had its eye on some railroad that is no longer used by Norfolk-Southern that could be turned in to a rail trail for the city and other parts of Cleveland County, NC. Shelby City Manager, Rick Howell, was interviewed on this Friday Feature about the past process and how steps have recently been taken that could move their hopes closer to reality. A rail trail could mean a place to walk, run, ride bikes, and enjoy nature. This interview originally aired on Sept. 4, 2020.
