Wow. It's hard to believe it's been almost three decades since WNCW first went LIVE - on the air, back in 1989. In just a few weeks, we'll open our Fall Funder on our "Big Three-Oh." The station actually went on the air for the first time on October 13, 1989 - Friday The 13th to be exact, and we haven't stopped yet thanks to our listeners and the thousands of supporters of great public radio. Speaking of...
Thank you to all of the fans, friends, family members, musicians, promoters, vendors and owners of venues for making the past 30 years a success. Also, a huge shout out and message of gratitude to everyone who has worked as a staff member or volunteer. The magic mix of all the above "grassroot ingredients" has truly made it possible to not only survive, but to thrive in this ever changing world of radio.
We've got some fantastic thank you gifts to offer this Fall including our first 3CD Compilation Crowd Around the Mic - Volume 23. It features dozens of artists who have stopped by Studio B and performed beautiful music at WNCW during the past 12 months along with three sessions that were recorded remotely - good stuff all the way around! We also have some new designs for t-shirts and our hoodie, thanks to our Logo Contest Winner Rob Hibbitts. We'll offer new stickers, coffee mugs, festival "sili" cups and more! And, as usual - we'll share opportunities for entering amazing giveaways and we'll have some super cool concert/fest tickets and CDs too.
More info to come! Stay tuned. Our spectacular DJs will be sharing more info and sampling music, on the air - daily, from our new Crowd 23.
Happy 30th - to all of us!
