ARC Overnight Volunteers Travel From East Tennessee

Keith and Cathy Shockley travel from Knoxville, TN, to volunteer for WNCW's late-night show, ARC Overnight. This is exceptional, but what makes their story even more memorable is that Keith is legally blind, and hosts the show with Cathy working alongside him as co-producer.

Keith has been a fan of WNCW since the station's inception in 1989, when they lived in Morristown, TN. Complications from glaucoma and macular degeneration within the past decade have led to his visual disability. However, Keith decided to open up a door of opportunity with WNCW and transform his lifelong interest in radio into a new avocation as an ARC volunteer.

The Shockleys have made their periodic sojourn from East Tennessee to Spindale to host ARC Overnight since October 2006. This week they returned to put together a show with music including artists such as Pixies, Miles Davis, Gnarls Barkley and Modest Mouse, along with new music from the likes of The dBs, Flaming Lips and Bobby Womack. You can listen to Keith's show this Monday morning from 12 to 4 a.m. on WNCW.
