Glenn and Lula Bolick of Caldwell County are 2018 winners of the N.C. Heritage Award, the state’s highest honor for traditional artists. Lula is a member of the Owens family of Piedmont potters. Glenn grew up in a family whose heritage of music-making, sawmilling, and storytelling goes back generations. He carries on all three arts today, in addition to the pottery-making that he learned from Lula and her family.

Many of today’s outstanding old-time and bluegrass musicians carry on longstanding family traditions. One such artist is multi-instrumentalist and flatfoot dancer Marsha Bowman Todd. A musician all her life, Marsha is one of the leading lights of the legendary musical community of Mount Airy, North Carolina.

One of the country's most intriguing indie folk bands, Asheville-based River Whyless, has a brand new release Kindness, A Rebel, and they recently stopped by our studios to talk about it, and to play some songs from the album. We'll listen to that interview and performance on the next Studio B Rewind, plus hear a session with the Raleigh roots rock band Urban Soil, who were in the area for a show in Hendersonville.

It's Amanda Anne Platt playing some tunes in a solo session and catching us up on the latest with her band the Honeycutters, and a new discovery of ours, Blue Yonder from Charleston, West Virginia, who were in the area last month for a show in Asheville.

Tupelo, Mississippi singer/songwriter Paul Thorn has a brand new album, Don't Let The Devil Ride, so we thought it would be a good time to rewind back to 2002 for a really fun session with him centered around the Mission Temple Fireworks Stand album. We'll also listen to Asheville singer-songwriter Jane Kramer, backed by Free Planet Radio and Billy Cardine in a recent visit to Studio B. Join Host Kim Clark for Studio B rewind, Sundays at 7pm.
