WNCW's Music Mix with Joe Kendrick

Weekdays at noon

Joe Kendrick mixes a unique blend of Americana, blues, roots, jazz, Celtic, world music and more (waaaaaay more) to spice your lunch hour and keep your afternoon jumping! If WNCW gave out superlatives, Joe would likely be voted "Most likely to play Yo La Tengo and Raymond Scott in the same set". Special features include New Tunes at 2 (spotlighting a new album with 3 songs in the mix, which happens Mondays through Thursdays in the 2 o'clock hour) as well as live performances from WNCW's world-famous Studio B.

She's a classically-trained singer and pianist, but we first discovered Olivia Chaney thanks to her collaboration with The Decemberists in the group Offa Rex last year. The project showcased her deep connection with the British folk revival. She has a new solo release out on Nonesuch Records, and is in the area for a show at the Grey Eagle in Asheville Wednesday night.

This Raleigh roots-rock jam quintet is a new discovery for us. They're playing Rhythm & Brews in downtown Hendersonville Thursday evening, and they come back to the area for a Greenville show August 10th.

It's live bluegrass during Goin' Across the Mountain this Saturday when Jonah Riddle & Carolina Express pay Joe Greene a visit. Upcoming shows of theirs include Music on Main in Sparta, NC on Friday the 6th.
