Local Color

Mondays 8pm to 9pm

Hosted by Renee Denton, Local Color brings to light music by emerging and established artists from all over our listening area. In addition to fresh releases and long-heralded songs, you’ll hear news from our region’s music community, occasional interviews, and in-studio performances. The one-hour show airs weekly on Monday nights at 8pm.

Join Local Color Host Renee Denton for a Studio B Session, Monday, July 23rd, with the Asheville Indie Duo, TINA AND HER PONY. These classically trained musicians share signature sounds of delicate, haunting harmony and exposed instrumentation on the cello, tenor ukulele and acoustic guitar. They're inspired by artists like Doc Watson, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Nick Drake, as well as Appalachian musicians such as Loretta Lynn, The Carter family, Elvis Presley, Radiohead, Russian composers and yes... Johnny Cash! This is gonna be a good one.

As part of WNCW's first Local Color Live, we not only turned the spotlight on some of our region's best music and musicians but also on some of the best local businesses. One of those businesses is Riverbend Malt House, an Asheville-based brewery that doesn't just focus on producing delicious malt beverages but also on the myriad of ways in which sustainable practices make up the backbone of Riverbend Malt House - from the farmer to the malt house to the community.
