Our new antenna is being installed at our main transmitter site on Clingman's Peak near Mount Mitchell this week. You may notice some intermittent service in our signal as the upgrade is made. The work should be completed (barring any major weather issues) by the end of the week.
The antenna that is being replaced is the original antenna that WNCW came on the air with in 1989, over 28 year ago. The expected lifetime of this piece of equipment was between 20-25 years. To ensure that our listeners continue to have access to all that WNCW brings to the communities we serve, it is necessary to replace the antenna with a new one. Thank you to all of our supporters who have helped to financially prepare the station for this endeavor.
Listeners can expect a boosted signal dependability with the new antenna. We appreciate your patience as we install this new equipment and apologize in advance for any inconvenience during the process. You may continue to stream our live broadcast online here, which will be unaffected by the intermittent signal service.
