This trio of regional musicians promises to create a memorable, unique blend of traditional Japanese and Appalachian music! Originally from Osaka, Japan but a Swannanoa resident for many years, Akira Satake fell in love with the banjo at a young age, and is a master shamisen player (and a master ceramicist as well.) We know Anya Hinkle's great work fronting Tellico and Dehlia Low, and are happy to welcome her for a number of Studio B sessions this year. Duncan Wickel was nothing short of a child prodigy on the fiddle and other instruments growing up in Asheville, and currently plays with Rising Appalachia. The trio plays Ambrose West in West Asheville on Friday.
