Jenny Lawson has been known to millions online and on Twitter as "The Bloggess".  But when she decides to break into "print" media, her chosen subject matter is her more-than-a-little strange upbringing.  With a father Lawson describes as completely crazy, and a mother who she later discovered was also crazy - just not as crazy as her father - Lawson says nobody has as insane a family as she does.

There was a time was when riding a bicycle meant going outside, hitting the kickstand with the back of your foot, swinging your leg over and taking off. You didn't need to buy expensive gear; you didn't need a huge number of gears; and you didn't have to ride miles and miles, just as fast as you could.

The idea of being present at the uncovering of historical artifacts has always sounded so thrilling to me.  So when I heard that a group of Wofford College students recently went on a dig near Galilee and were able to make a significant find, I had to contact them. Operation North State is less than two years old, but as an organization, it couldn't be much more popular if it tried.  Everyone wants to get behind and help our military here at home and abroad. That's what made Operation North State founder and volunteer, Terry Snyder start the organization.  Pam Bunch talks to Snyder about this military support group that only works for military in North Carolina, sending holiday packages full of North Carolina goods to our troops and how you can help in this wonderful endeavor.

Rabies is a frightening disease, and with the warm winter and early spring, the chance for exposure is extended this year. Pam Bunch talks to Sue Ellen Morrison, the Communicable Disease Outreach Manager for the Buncombe County Department of Health.  Morrison discusses the 4 ways to avoid post-exposure shots. These are things which everyone should know in order to stay safe and avoid the pain and expense of rabies shots and vaccinations.

Pisgah Forest Pottery was started by Walter B. Stephen early in the last century, but potter Rodney Leftwich says it is a vital piece of Western North Carolina's artistic tradition that most of us don't know about.  Pam Bunch spoke with Leftwich about a celebration coming up this week that is all about educating people about this piece of history and finding a way to save the site for the future.
