Last week I spoke with Chris McGill, an energy supply expert and vice-president Policy Analysis for the American Gas Association, about a two-year report on natural gas. This report said that the supply of natural gas is at an all time high and that's a great thing for the consumers and for the country.

However, that's only one side of the energy story, so to speak. Yesterday I spoke with Katie Hicks, who is with the non-profit, state-wide organization, Clean Water for North Carolina.

On Tuesday, April 9th, Chris McGill, an energy supply expert and vice-president of Policy Analysis for the American Gas Association, announced the results of a two year study of the nation's supply of natural gas.  This report shows that supplies of natural gas are at an all-time high. I spoke with McGill on Thursday, and talked about some of the things which were revealed in the report. I also asked him about 'frakking', and whether there is any way to be sure that this practice of getting to natural gas is not harming the environment. Tune it to hear our conversation.

The Greenville, SC Upstate Forever ForeverGreen Annual Awards Luncheon will be held on Feb. 21st.  Upstate Forever is a non-profit organization promoting sensible growth and protecting special places in the Upstate region of South Carolina.  The ForeverGreen Awards honor individuals and organizations for significant contributions in the fields of land conservation, water quality, air quality, sustainable development, public service and volunteer work.

This weekend is the second inauguration of President Barack Obama.  Monday is the day we celebrate and honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  And, tomorrow - January 19 - has been designated the National Day of Service by the President.

For the first time ever, Asheville's City Council has come up with a plan to improve the city's food security.  The Asheville-Buncombe Food Policy Council has been working for a year to devise a plan to make sure that all children and adults in the city have access to food whenever they need it.
