Morning host Kim Clark is a native of western North Carolina. Her path to being a dj began early. When she was six, she received a record player and a Beatles album for Christmas: "The next year I got a reel-to-reel recorder, and soon I was pretending I was on the radio announcing the latest hits by The Beatles, The Monkees, Sonny and Cher, and Elvis." After a ten-year stint as a retail manager and seven more as a music sales rep, Kim came to WNCW in late 1997 as a volunteer overnight dj, and soon moved to hosting the weekend news. Within a year, she was employed in the development department, then moved to programming in 2000. She became Program Director in 2002, but "being on the air is what feeds my soul", she says. So she hung up her administrative hat and made the commitment to get up every day at 4am to host the morning drive. She also jumped at the opportunity to host Local Color on WNCW and performs that role as well. "As a WNCW host, I've had the opportunity to interview some incredible artists- Mavis Staples, The Indigo Girls, Doc Watson, Wanda Jackson, and many others". But Kim says her favorite conversation is "the one I have with WNCW's listeners every morning." Email Kim at kim@wncw.org. |
