"Live Music Is Better"
You see those bumper stickers on cars all around our listening area, and on doors here at WNCW, too. It’s one of the most accurate statements that I can think of, and Crowd Around The Mic: Volume 11 is a great example of how true it is. Almost every week, we have incredible musicians come through our world-class recording plant Studio-B, and deliver amazing performances that surprise even themselves, not to mention you and me. Whether a solo singer/songwriter, a five member bluegrass group, or a full on nine-piece funk band, it’s a thrill to be able to present these creative artists in the best light possible. Each of these tracks are donated by the musicians, songwriters, and management, with an almost reverent respect of the efforts here at WNCW to continue bringing you the music that is not found on most radio dials. It’s a relationship that reminds me of days, for the most part, long gone; a sort of barn-raising in the community.
It’s the community that keeps WNCW strong. By pledging your support for this recording, you have helped ensure that we can continue to supply the best on-air programming we can…be it new CDs, classic favorites, or the fantastic live sessions from Studio-B. Thanks to all who have been a part of the project this year, but most of all, thank you. We are nothing without you: the best members in the world.
