Support WNCW: Frequently Asked Questions

what does isothermal mean?
In meteorological terms, the word "isotherm" refers to a line drawn on a weather map showing identical or even temperatures.  If something is isothermal, it is of equal or constant temperature with respect to either time or space.  Also known as a thermal belt, this weather condition is created along mountainsides, in the foothills, where frost or freezing temperatures are less likely to occur compared to temperatures at higher or lower elevations.

Research has shown that Rutherford and Polk Counties where WNCW and Isothermal Community College are located has thermal belts.

When choosing a name for Isothermal Community College, the original Board of Trustees drew from this regional characteristic to create a name that described the area and represented the college.

Any contribution given after your annual membership donation is considered an additional gift.  If you would like a mid-year contribution to be allocated as a renewal, you must designate that when you make that payment.

What is the matching fund?
During limited, specified hours of the pledge drives contributions we receive on air will be matched by gifts raised off air and allocated to the matching fund voluntarily by our donors.  If you allow us to include your contribution in our matching fund, all of your personal information including the amount of your gift will remain confidential.  When we receive your gift along with your permission to include it in our matching gift fund, we will hold it in a matching gift account and use it only upon meeting the goals we announce on air when gifts are being matched.

How do I participate in the matching fund?
Check the box on the reply card enclosed in the letter recently mailed to you to add your contribution to WNCW's matching fund for the fundraiser.  As one of the best ways to encourage other listeners to join you in supporting WNCW, your gift would be pooled with others to match pledges during the on-air fundraiser. The matching money helps WNCW to raise significant funds in a short time so you can hear as much music as possible.
