Richard Beard

Richard Beard co-hosts Celtic Winds on WNCW 88.7 FM, Richard is well-versed in Celtic music, culture, literature, and history. Travels to Ireland and Scotland have provided him with an intimate understanding of the music he plays on WNCW. Richard is a high school carpentry and cabinet-making teacher during the day, and a luthier and musician by night.  Richard's love of woodworking and music carries over into every aspect of his life.  He has been producing finely crafted stringed instruments including guitars, mandolins, bouzoukis and dulcimers for over 25 years and he performs Celtic and Old-Time music with all his own instruments in the bands Paddywhack and Sassafrass Tea. He lives and works in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, located in the Appalachian foothills.
